5 Ways to Make Your Labor Day Weekend Memorable

The season is nearing its end and people from across the Midwest are traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks for one last great weekend! Labor Day Weekend, the last 3 day weekend of the summer season, is the perfect excuse to get away to the Lake one last time while the weather is still nice. In today's blog, Your Lake Vacation offers a few ways to make this holiday weekend a memorable one!

1. Host a BBQ.

Whether you're celebrating with family or just with friends, nothing says holiday weekend like a good old fashioned BBQ! From hotdogs and hamburgers to steaks and more, there's nothing better than grilling your dinner outside in the beautiful weather. If you're staying in one of our homes or condos at the Lake of the Ozarks, you're all set because they come equip with a gas grill and extra propane tank. Be sure to stop by Woods, Hy-Vee or Dierbergs to check out the Labor Day sales!

2. Enjoy the Outdoors.

The Lake of the Ozarks area is expecting some of the best Labor Day Weekend weather we've had in years! It's supposed to be warm (not too hot) and sunny all weekend long. That means you'll have the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy the great outdoors! From boating and swimming to hiking and exploring, the Lake of the Ozarks has a variety of outdoor adventures at your finger tips. Take a trip out to Ha Ha Tonka State Park to check out the castle ruins and hike to the spring!

3. Rent a Boat.

If you don't own a boat, consider renting one! The Lake of the Ozarks was voted BEST recreational lake in the country for a reason, and your holiday weekend just wouldn't be complete if you didn't hit the water at some point. While you're out on the water, be sure to check out one of the many great waterfront restaurants for food or drinks, and enjoy some of the best live music around every night, all weekend long!

4. Watch Some Fireworks.

Summer holidays just aren't the same without some colorful explosions lighting up the sky. Every holiday weekend throughout the summer, you can expect to see firework displays at various location around the Lake. Whether you have a boat and are out on the water or want to view them by land, there are a variety of options for you to choose from. You can view fireworks at Old Kinderhook on Friday, Bear Bottom Resort at the 34 MM on Saturday, and/or The Lodge at the 13 MM and Tan-Tar-A at the 26 MM on Sunday.

5. Take a Moment to Relax.

Labor Day Weekend was created to honor those who work. It's a celebration, that includes taking a break from all the hard "labor" that working people do every week. With that being said, it only makes sense that you take some time out of your day to simply relax. Spend the day never leaving your vacation rental at the Lake of the Ozarks. Your private home or condo is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the holiday weekend and take a minute for yourself. You can sit down in front of the TV, grab a book or relax in a nice hot bath. No matter what you choose to do, make sure that you're not so busy this weekend that you don't take a second to step back and enjoy some quiet time.
