Clothing and Footwear
While it may seem like a swimsuit and hat are the only clothing items you need to enjoy a day at the Lake, be sure to pack both cool and hot weather clothes. If you choose to go out on the boat in the evening, the breeze over the water might be kind of chilly. You'll want a hoodie or light jacket to throw over your swimwear. In addition to your flip flops, be sure to pack some tennis shoes or boots for hiking, and don't forget the socks. The Lake of the Ozarks has beautiful trails throughout the State Park and you'll want to make sure and visit the castle ruins at Ha Ha Tonka as well.
Kitchen Items
Each home or condo will have a coffee pot and toaster available for your use. However, you will want to bring your own coffee and maybe some extra coffee filters. Basic cooking utensils, pots, pans and dinnerware are also provided. While a roll of paper towels is provided, you may want to bring extra if you plan on cooking a lot. Dish soap and dishwasher tablets are provided. There will be two trash bags per trash can, so you may want to bring a few extra if you think you'll have a lot of trash during your stay.
Toiletries
Be sure to pack shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, toothbrush, toothpaste and any other personal care items you may need while on vacation. When vacationing at the Lake, you'll probably want to include sunscreen, bug spray and maybe some aloe vera gel or lotion. A starter supply of toilet paper and bar soaps are provided. However, you're likely to need additional toilet paper, unless you're only staying for 2 nights.
Beverages and Snacks
While a day at the Lake for you may consist of kicking back on the boat and having a few beers, you don't want to get dehydrated. In addition to your tasty beverages, be sure to pack plenty of bottled water! Depending on how long you plan on being out on the water, you'll want to make sure you have snacks too, especially if you have kiddos. Some popular lake snacks include chips, crackers and grapes. If you're going to be gone all day, sandwiches make a great on-the-go lunch; all you need is some bread, cheese, lunch meat and maybe some mayo or mustard.
Water Toys
While you may want to get some good ole exercise by swimming, you'll want to make sure you have some floaties. From inflatable tubes to foam noodles, having something ready for when you get tired of treading water is important. If you're going out on a boat or jet ski, you'll need to make sure everyone has a life jacket as well. They will probably be provided for you if you rent a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks. Tubes, water skiis and kneeboards are also great water toys to have at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you don't have your own, there are lots of places you can rent them from!
Other Items
Coolers full of ice and koozies to keep your drinks cold are two must haves for a vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks! There's nothing like a cold, refreshing drink in the sun. You'll also want to make sure to pack some sunglasses, preferably a cheap pair in case you loose them in the lake. While bath towels are provided, you'll want to bring your own beach towels to use at the pool, swim docks and out on the boat. As with any vacation, don't forget your chargers for all your electronics!
Don't worry if you forget something...the Lake of the Ozarks isn't on some deserted island. There's a Wal-Mart in the middle of town, as well as several other grocery and convenient stores around.
